Artist Statement:
I appreciate the accessibility and wonders of modern computer recording technology. I have enthusiastically embraced this technology to bring to life the musical ideas that have been a part of my existence for as long as I can remember. However, in the age of AI Technology, I wanted to do a counter musical narrative. What better way to achieve this vision than releasing stripped down, bare bones, vérité versions of my songs.

"Takes: Acoustic Vérité" is a collection of alternate acoustic song versions that I recorded over the years. Most of these songs have “official” versions that were previously released. Two of the songs in this collection, "Can’t Hold a Candle" and "Talking ‘bout Love," are first time releases. These tracks were recorded at different times during the development of the songs. Most of these songs were recorded at Tangled Wire Studio (TWS) in Seattle, Washington.

The recordings are vérité. When you listen, you might hear occasional guitar body noises, fret squeaks, foul notes, breathing and other incidental noises that are usually removed from polished song releases. All of the tracks in this collection were recorded live as demos and practice. On two of the tracks, "Chip Away" and "The Swamp," I added additional instrumentation on top of the recorded live tracks.

All songs were written and performed by Marwood Williams, except for "I Will Disappoint You," which features David LeVeda on Slide Guitar.
